Salient Books is an indie-only bookstore dedicated to helping readers discover independently published stories and the incredible authors behind them.

Founded by Air Force veteran and sole proprietor Jasmine Headley, Salient Books was created with a simple goal: to give indie authors a place where their creativity is celebrated and their stories are never overshadowed.

More than a bookstore, Salient Books is a community built on connection, visibility, and the belief that stories are better when you know the storyteller.

Meet Jasmine

Hello Lovely, I'm Jasmine. 💚

I am the heart behind Salient Books.

Every graphic, package, social media post, catalog page, sprayed edge, sticker, bookmark, interview, and handmade extra that comes from the shop is created, designed, packed, or managed by me.

But Salient Books didn't begin with a business plan.

It began with a book.

Years ago, I lost my entire personal library during an abusive relationship. What had once been my favorite escape became too painful to revisit, and for years I couldn't even look at a book without remembering what had been lost.

Then, on my twenty-fifth birthday, someone gifted me a novel.

That single book changed everything.

It reminded me why stories matter. They help us escape, heal, dream, and remember that we are never truly alone. As I rebuilt my love of reading, I noticed how often indie authors were overlooked despite creating incredible stories.

So, I built the bookstore I wished existed.

A place where indie authors could be celebrated, readers could discover hidden gems, and creativity could thrive.

That's exactly what this bookstore was created to do.

In a crowded world, indie authors deserve to stand out. Their stories deserve to be discovered, celebrated, and remembered.

What Makes Salient Books Different?

Salient Books was never meant to be just another bookstore.

My goal is to become everything a publishing house is without being one.

Through author collections, interviews, launch support, handmade exclusives, special editions, promotional opportunities, and community-building initiatives, I strive to give indie authors meaningful opportunities while allowing them to remain proudly independent.

Because I understand what it means to chase a dream without a team.

Many of the products available through Salient Books are designed, created, printed, or assembled in-house.

From bookmarks, stickers, stationery, keychains, candles, tote bags, and art prints to special editions and reader gifts, every item is created with the goal of bringing stories to life in new ways.

One of the shop's most beloved offerings is its exclusive sprayed-edge editions.

Every sprayed-edge design is created in-house using custom mixed paint formulas designed specifically for that title. No two books share the same recipe, and some feature specialty sparkle blends and color-shifting effects that create different looks depending on the lighting.

These editions are designed to be as unique as the stories themselves.

Meet Furfur

No introduction to Salient Books would be complete without Furfur.

Part raccoon, part red panda, and entirely chaos, Furfur is the official mascot and guardian of the shop.

You'll find him throughout the website, in seasonal packaging, appreciation packs, social media posts, and many of the handmade details that make Salient Books feel like home.

Our Vision

Salient Books began as a dream, but it has always been building toward something bigger.

My long-term goal is to create a brick-and-mortar bookstore where indie authors and readers can connect through signings, launch parties, book clubs, creative events, and community gatherings.

A place where people can leave their burdens at the door for a little while and get lost in stories.
