Garden of Dreams: Where Independent Stories Take Root

Garden of Dreams: Where Independent Stories Take Root

Every story begins as a dream.

Maybe it starts with a character who refuses to leave an author's mind, a world waiting to be explored, or an idea scribbled down before it can disappear. Eventually, with enough time, work, courage, and probably more than a few late nights, that dream becomes something another person can hold in their hands.

The Garden of Dreams Collection was created to celebrate those stories and the independent authors who brought them to life.

Each year, the Garden begins again, filling with the books that have newly joined the shelves of Salient Books. It gives those stories an added spotlight while giving readers a place to discover some of the newest worlds, characters, and authors to find a home here.

A Dream Bound Only by Creativity

One of the things I love most about independent books is the freedom behind them.

There are no boundaries on what an agent or publisher thinks will sell. Independent authors have the freedom to experiment, blend genres, explore unusual ideas, write deeply personal stories, and create the books they want to exist.

They lay pieces of their hearts, imaginations, and dreams onto the page and trust readers to meet them there.

That means you never quite know what you might discover in the Garden of Dreams.

You may find sprawling fantasy worlds filled with magic, romances that give you butterflies, mysteries waiting to be unraveled, stories that break your heart, characters who begin to feel like family, children's adventures filled with wonder, poetry that puts familiar feelings into words, or books that refuse to fit comfortably into any single category.

No two stories have to grow the same way.

Every Book Has a Story Before the First Page

A book joining Salient Books is more than another product being added to the shop.

Behind every cover is an independent author who took something that once existed only in their imagination and turned it into something real.

An idea became a dream.

A dream became a manuscript.

A manuscript became a book.

And eventually, that book found its way here.

The Garden of Dreams gives those newly arrived stories a little extra room to grow and a place where readers can discover what has recently joined the shop.

Maybe you'll recognize an author you've supported for years. Maybe you'll discover someone you've never heard of before. Maybe you'll find a book you never would have thought to search for on your own.

That's part of the fun of wandering through the Garden.

The Garden Grows Again Each Year

Every year brings new stories to Salient Books, and with them comes a new Garden of Dreams.

Throughout the year, books newly added to the shop are gathered into the collection. As more authors and stories find their way onto the shelves, the Garden continues to grow alongside them.

When a new year begins, so does a new Garden, ready for all the stories we haven't met yet.

Some years may bring an abundance of fantasy. Others may fill the Garden with romance, horror, poetry, mysteries, children's adventures, or stories that are something else entirely.

No two years will ever look exactly the same because no two groups of dreamers will ever create exactly the same stories.

And that's exactly how it should be.

Find Your Next Story

There are so many books in the world that finding your next read can sometimes mean venturing beyond the stories you already know.

Your next favorite book might be one you've never heard of.

Your next favorite character might be waiting inside a world you've never visited.

Your next favorite author might be someone whose name you're seeing for the very first time.

The Garden of Dreams Collection is an invitation to wander through the stories that have recently taken root at Salient Books, try something unfamiliar, and see where someone else's imagination might take you.

Because every book growing in this Garden started in the same place.

With someone brave enough to chase a dream. 💚
