Growing up in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Joe was almost always outside in the woods. Being in nature helped develop a love for fantasy and magic that he then wanted to bring to his written works.
Before publishing The Shineden, he had published several pieces in various newspapers, editorials, and blogs around the country and at various times over the last ten years. While publishing small articles was enjoyable, he always wanted to finally publish his own novel which was finally able to happen in June of 2024 when The Shineden was finally released.
A graduate of Southern Virginia University (C/O 2019), he was able to study writing and creativity while continuing to create new worlds and stories. Still, he always returned to Falduen and the world of The Shineden.
He and his wife were married in 2014 and now have four wonderful children who are all growing into their own love of fantasy and adventure!
