This was a fun read! There were parts during the first half that dragged but then it really picked up after that through to the finish. Liked the mix of magic and tech. Thought there was some good world building with regard to the city/ economics/ transportation/ religion/ etc Can’t wait for the next book! (And I hope there’s a special edition with sprayed edges available for that one as well)

What an amazing book. I ate it up! It had perfect pacing, the world building was not overwhelming and did not feel like the author either insults the reader or expects the reader to be a historian or someone who can memorize everything they read.
I enjoyed this book, I haven’t had a book that I couldn’t put down like this in a while and part of it is personal schedule, sure, but this book was truly wonderful. Can’t wait for the next!

The world building is excellent, the characters are wonderful, the story is *chefs kiss*.

When I say this book has me in a chokehold, I mean it has me IN A CHOKEHOLD. The whole journey is incredible from start to finish. Piper is a tough, likeable main character with her own fears and flaws, a soft spot for the kids and some serious fighting skills. The world building has clearly been so meticulously thought out and I cannot wait for book two!
